Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: There isn't enough information in your post to help you too much. Marconi is indeed an Italian name, but it isn't "from" one specific town. There are people all over Italy with that name (check it out at http://www.infobel.com ).

We would be glad to look up the ancestors you've identified. Many of us have access to all sorts of databases that can help you. But we would need the names of the ancestors that you're researching, when they were born, where they lived in the US, what records you've already found on them, etc. Then we can pull passenger lists, census records, military service records, etc and help you flesh this out.

The other question that's very important is "when"...when did they come to the US. If they came after 1901, you can have your friend request her ancestors' immigration records from the State Archives or National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) regional center for the state where they lived when they applied citizenship. They had to wait 5 years to apply for citizenship and after 1906 the forms they filled out were very detailed and full of the very information you're going to want to find them in Italian records.
