Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Most of the immigrants coming to the US with that surname were Italian. A few were also French. A couple of them were Caribbean blacks and at least one was Polish (a woman name Kataryna). I can only find Naturalization records on two people with the name Margera (remember that before 1900 wives didn't become naturalized...they took on whatever their husband's nationality was). Plus those who came in the 1800s we don't have indexed. But of the two on whom there are indexed records, both were Italian and lived in New York City when they were naturalized. |
