Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: start with your parents, use birth, death and baptism records. They list their parents. If you have older living relatives they can give you dates. It is a long trail to get to the end if you ever do. Records back in the 1700-1800's aren't the greatest if they even exist. That's the easiest way to find out. Please understand that genealogy is an expensive and fun hobby. You can find free documentation at cemeteries and obits if you have dates.
