I am looking to find info on private harry lee smith from new york state?

need to find records of his family and his living in the US to complete my immigration into us as US citizen. But we are lacking info. Name of father Ambrose Charles, mother Anna Jennings living in Ancramdale, N.Y. Harry Lee Smith was married in New York around 1969. Does anyone have any information.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Many people don't know that the ssdi has filters.. since there were so many Ambrose Smiths in New York, I narrowed to the one born 19 Oct 1902 and died Jan 1985 in Ancram, Columbia county, New York. Three Anna Smiths died in the same county..of those 3, one is too old to be Ambrose wife, so I think she is the one who died in Columbia county in Oct 1985 (born 1909). Considering your need, I would think it is worth while to pay to get those death certificates.
Another option would be to find if they are buried in the same town, and use that to locate the funeral home.

here is a site, having the cemeteries in the county..yes, I see Ambrose, but did not follow through to the exact name. I think this man would welcome an email, explaining what you are looking for.
When you find the mortuary... that is where you will probably find details for his obituary. It should list the children.. and might indicate when he immigrated (if he is the one that did so).
