last names that i am associted with is garcia and salazar(garcia being my mothers madien name..salazar being my great grandmothers madien name)...my great grandfather has spaniard background..does that make me spanish as well?...i have the light light skin dark hair and dark eyes...?


Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Yes, if your direct ancestor was a Spainard, you are of Spainish descent. Light skin, dark hair, and dark eyes is very common in Spain.

Not all people with "Spainish" last names are of much Spainish ancestry though, since the Spanish baptized Indians and Slaves and gave them Spanish names - most "Hispanics" are a mix of European, Indian, and African ancestry. Different countries (and castes within those countries) have differing amounts of each - some Caribbean countries (Dominican Republic, for instance) have more African; some South American countries (Peru, Ecuador) are mostly Indian, some more European (Argentina, Uruguay). There's a lot of variety.
