Question:

I'm adopted....?

I want to get in contact with my biological mother, but the state of Nebraska states that in order for me to either get information on her whereabouts or where I can find her, she the parent must have given written concent for the seal on the records to be broken. I've contacted both the state directly as well as the hospital I was born in. The state says unless she (my mother) is trying to contact me, no information can be given to me. As for the hospital, all they do is refer me back to the state. I've even tried to talk to the doctor who assisted in my birth, even he can not help me. Any suggestions on what I can do?

P.S. Anyone who is a lawyer concerning adoptions, espically those in Nebraska, as well as those within the social services area concerning adoptions, would be greatly appreciated.

Please only answer this question if you have true and accurate information that I can use, in regaurds to me being successful in my endevors. Thank you, in advance, to all who answer.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Hi John, I understand where you are coming from as I was there too. I ended up hiring a private detective that specialized in adoption because it was in the early 90's, before internet and I had so many obstacles. First of all, you can use those reunion registries but in all honesty, the success rate is very slim as both parties have to register. I first suggest you find an adoption support group. Do a search for one in your state if you can. Other members will be able to give you some great advice and resources, not to mention it helps with the emotional and mental changes you will go through knowing you are not alone. Other than that, here are some sites that can help you with your search. If I was able to find, you will too. I wish you all the best in your search and reunion.
