Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Yes it does or rather because I am a female, I guess it died when I got married. It used to bother me when I was a teenager because it used to bother my grandfather and we were very close. For awhile there I thought when I got married I wouldn't take my husbands name but it just stopped mattering somewhere along the line. As long as my childern know about my family and the history etc I think it doesn't really matter about the name. Besides I ended up with a guy who has a terrific last name, one I am proud to have too!
