I am using family tree maker 2006 on an xp does any one know why it wont let me seach the internet ?

from the program? I have done all the stuff the troubleshooting recommends and some stuff from tech support. and nothing. anyone had this problem? thanks in advance

If you have a security program, such as ZoneAlarm,
you have to open your default browser first, as your security program is "supposed to" prevent software you have installed from accessing the internet from inside the program (as without your permission). The security programs allow you to "give permission" for specific programs. There are different levels of permissions you can assign to a program. Given what I just wrote, if you find this information does not help, then your next two avenues would be: Tech support for your internet security and your browser settings.

And, oh my, I hope this does just the thing you need: How frustrating to buy a "cool" program and get just another problem! Sometimes others, too, have had the same difficulty, and you can google (oops Yahoo) "reviews and (even "problems and") Family Tree Maker" and find other's solutions.
