Question: Do you need to "break-in" pre-pointe shoes !?
I just got my first Grishko Elite pre-pointe shoes!. They kinda hurt when I go up on relevè(demi-pointe)!. Should I get re-fit or do they just need breaking in!? I need help!!!!!!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Pre-pointe shoes are just pointe shoes with no shank and a relatively soft sole!. They don't give enough support to do pointe work, but they help you get used to balancing when you can't feel the floor, and help develop your foot muscles by making you work harder to bend the stiffer shoe!. R!.A!.D!. exam requirements refer to these shoes as "soft pointe shoes"; they are also called "demi-pointe shoes"!.

They do need to be broken in!. In fact, because you are not relying on them to support your foot in pointe, you can break them in quite harshly: pound them with a hammer, until they are really soft!. But, get your teacher to check the fit first, just in case!. No-one expects pointe shoes, even soft pointes, to be as comfortable as slippers; but if by "kinda hurt" you mean substantial pain rather than mild discomfort, breaking them in might not be enough!.

To be honest, I've never worn pre pointe shoes!.

They have a hard box correct!? This will need 'breaking in'!. Generally just going on demi pointe, and performing tendus will help with this!.

If you have discomfort on flat, then usually there is a problem with fitting (for example the width being to narrow)!.

Hope I made sense!Www@QuestionHome@Com
