i am 12 years old and i have been dancing since i was 3, but mostly at my school (it is an arts school) when i was 3 i started taking ballett classes at a dance studio and did that for about 3 years but i have taken dance classes at my school since kindergarten (i am in seventh grade now) i have mostly done modern dance but i took ballett over this summer and last summer and i have pretty strong legs and a strong core and i dont weigh very much at all (almost 75 pounds) but i am starting a ballett class this week!. it is a pre-pointe class but mostly everyone if not everyone else in that class is already on pointe!.!.!.well anyway i was wondering how long it would probobly take for me to go on pointe!.!.!.i would really appreciate it if you could give me an idea of how long it will take! thanks!

p!.s!. i love to dance and i am very dedicated to it and will work VERY hard to achive my goal of going on to pointe!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you have only been taking ballet for a 2 years or so then you probably don't have enough knowledge of basic ballet not to mention turnout!. Just because you have strong legs does not mean you can dance en pointe, turnout is a thousand times more difficult en pointe especially if you normally depend on the floor!. also if you are 12 and only weigh 75 pounds you are awfully skinny, now I don't know you or your eating habits but your teacher could not be allowing you en pointe because you are too thin, eating disorders are common with dancers especially ballet dancers and she may be concerned for your health(not saying you have an eating disorder because some people are just naturally very thin but she may be waiting to see if you get skinnier or if you just naturally weigh very little)!. Really the only thing you can do is ask your teacher, I'm sure she has a legitimate reason for not allowing you en pointe and it always helps if you know what to work extra hard on, saying this my old ballet studio refused to allow girls en pointe until they were at least 13 and had 6 yrs of ballet training behind them!. good luck with going en pointe I know it's really exciting to be so close but don't forget how amazing ballet can be in softshoes, I've seen professional ballerinas dance in softshoes and it was just as beautiful as if it was en pointe!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
