Lyrical is a genre that is based a lot on technique, so knowing the correct placement of your body, feet, arms, and etc!. is very important!. Being able to do the splits will be very helpful and flexibility in general will help you be successful in class!. You will also need to know the positions of the feet!. Other things you will need to know is battements (kicks), plies (bends), pirouettes (turns on one leg)!.

The dance steps you are talking about are chaines (chain of turns) and pique (to perch)!. A chaine turn is a turn that takes place in releve (to rise) and your feet are in second and first position!. You just open and close as you turn!. Make sure you always spot and have your arms in the correct spot (high first and second)!. A pique turn is a turn generally on one leg!. Your standing leg never bends, but the one that comes up to passe (to pass or path through the knee) always plies (bends) when coming down!. also remember to spot and point your feet while turning!. Depending on the dance, your piques will be either turned in or turned out!. Ballet is always turned out, while jazz is turn in, but because lyrical is somewhat more of a mix between the two it will depend on the choreography to determine which you will use!.

Just try and do your best!. You will learn as you go!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
