Question: Dance Assistant Teacher Fairness!?
Okay so at my dance studio, there is hip hop but the actual studio owner doesn't teach it, she has one of the girls who takes classes at the studio teach it!. We had a really good teacher for 2 years but she went to college last year, so this year we've had a good teacher!. We have a fall show and a recital every year, and for the fall show the girls in it make up the dances, and I made up several even though I'm only a freshman in high school and most of the choreographers were older!. One of my dances was a hip hop dance!. Even though I'm tall and lanky and I don't do the dance very well, I thought the choreography was good!. I just recently found out though that the studio owner asked two other girls, one my age and one a year older, to make up a hip hop dance and whichever she liked better would be chosen to be the hip hop teacher for next year!. I personally don't think that's fair since I've had a lot of choreography experience while they've had close to none!. Both of the girls are a lot better at me at actually doing the dance, but being a hip hop teacher doesn't require that, correct!?

My mom suggested going to the studio owner and asking to be an assistant for next year, but that would be random and kinda rude in my opinion but I do want to do something about it!.

that is the dance that the current teacher made up

and this is the dance that i made up!.

I've also made up other hip hop dances in my own free time, but not many people have seen them!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

at first when i started reading this i immediately thought, "it is her age"
but then you went on to say that one of the girls is the same age as you!.!.!. so clearly that's not the problem!.

many studio owners don't realize when they might have been unfair!.!.!.

being an assistant would be great because then you could have the teaching experience and maybe be a teacher in the future while you are still in high school

also a lot of the time it goes by how long the dancers have been at the studio, if some one has been there longer then you have and is better then you, then they are more likely to get the "job!."

i think talking to your studio owner would be a good idea because it would show her that you care about teaching a class and you are willing to work for it and not just let it be handed to you!.

i know how sometimes it may very well be not only your age but your ability!.!.!. in a class if one of the students doesn't get it you will have to show them, so it does require the presence!.

i am 14 and one of the other problems could be that it is the age range of the class!. my teach has the seniors teach the level one and two classes because if i were to teach that class then some of the girls could possibly be the same age as i am!. so instead i teach a kindergarten class because there is not a possibility that i will be the same age as them!.

hope i helped :)Www@QuestionHome@Com
