Question: I want to develop my flexibility!.!.!.!.!?
im not flexible, but i would like to be!.!.!.!.again!.!.!.!.so yeah!. is there anything that i can do to get really fexible, really quick!?!? i wanna be able to do splits, scorps!., and high kicks!.!.!.im trying to get ready for cheerleading next year!. also, i need to learn how to do a backhand spring, cartwheel, and whatever else flips are in cheerleading!. help!?!?!?!? thanks!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, you cant get flexible in a week,
but if you give it about a month, you will see a huge difference!

all i can say about the gymnastics is to never teach yourself things like back handsprings!

you should take a teen tumbling class for the hand springs, but the cartwheels and round-offs you can just teach yourself by trial and error and extra practice!.

here is what you should do every single day if you want to get amazingly flexible!

1!. do a very general, basic dance warm up!. stretch your arms, quads, do some lunges!. sit and try to touch your toes, do a straddle, etc!. gradually work your way into it!.

2!. after you are warm, lay down on your back, body and legs straight!. then grab and pull up your right leg straight to your belly, as far as it can go, while you keep your left leg on the ground pointed!. bend and straighten for about a minute!. then for four more minutes, hold it straight!. you will definitely feel the stretch, but if you want that flexibility, you will have to do this every single day!.

3!. repeat the stretch with the left leg!.

4!. after the leg grap stretch sit in your right splits as far as you can go for 5 minutes!. make sure your hips are squared, and make sure that you keep your shoulders over your hips!.

5!. do the same thing with the left and the middle splits!.

6!. to help with your scorpions, while you are in either of your splits as far down as you possibly can, arch back and try to grab your back leg!. if you can't, dont worry, just practice arching back!.

7!. for middles, sit in a straddle as far as you can and lean forward!.
then roll into your middle splits and hold it for 5 minutes!.

if you do these all correctly once every day for about a month, you will have your splits FOR SURE!. you will see difference in a week!.
you will also probably be sore, but it is all worth it!.

also, if anything hurts more than your average stretch, then stop immediately! it is not worth an injury!

first off, im on dance team!.!. and flexability is something you need to work on for a while!.

start by doing the simple stuff, lunges, kicks, squats, half splits, arm streches!.!. etc!.
then keep making it a little more intense each time you think youre ready!. soon you can start doing things totally full out and see the results!. you need to take your time and not rush into anything because you will hurt yourself!.

i would say if you practice splits everyday a few times a day you can have them within 2 months tops!.

for backhand springs i suggest taking a beggining gymnastics class!.
i was a gymnast for 3 years and i learned to do those within the first year, and i was in beggining!. :)

oh, and cheerleading usually has mandatory gymnastics classes to help learn stuff!. so dont sweat it if you dont totally have it by then!

Besides doing all the normal stuff, I take a hot bath and stretch my hamstrings (sitting and stretching toward your toes, etc)!. Then you can practice after that, warmth makes a difference, make sure its warm where you are stretching!. And don't forget the difference between a good hurt (when your muscles are only hurting because your stretching them farther than they normally like to be stretched) and a bad hurt (when it's too sharp or feels unusually painful)!. You'll know what I mean when you try it, I'm sure!.

all you can do is just work your split on the ground and do over splits and make sure you're square and do it a couple times a day you could even sit in them while you watch tvWww@QuestionHome@Com

you are crazy you cant get flexible in less than a year, its more hard to older people to do all that!!!!.!.!.

in my case it took me a year to do a backbend!!.!.!. you need to practice alot!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I had that same problem!. My best friend is a crazy bendy straw (she's been a serious dancer since she was 2) so I was always jealous!. Just stretch, stretch, stretch!Www@QuestionHome@Com
