GO FOR IT!

I'm 13 and only started Lyrical this year after quite a while off any type of dance at all and I'm doing rather well!

Hard work, determination and willingness to learn are the makings of any great dancer, and if you stretch everyday (maybe after a nice hot shower!? Then your muscles will be nice and relaxed) you'll get down into splits in no time at all!

I'd reccomend Ballet as a good base but Lyrical is a beautiful style of dance too!.!.!.my favourite by far! It's often called modern ballet, as it originates from ballet but has aspects of jazz in it too!.!.!.a very original and emotional form of dance!.

In my dance class, there are 15 year olds, as well as 12 year olds all mixed up! Just because some of them started later and are older doesn't make them any less a great dancer, and trust me, at 11/12 even you are nowhere even NEAR too old to start any form of dance!!!

For starters, you're never too old to start anything you love, and secondly, a proffesional ballet teacher actually said that between 8-12 was a good time to start Ballet because the bones and muscles were properly developed!.

Go for it!! =]Www@QuestionHome@Com

You can start dance whenever you like! I've been dancing since I was four, but started classical ballet when I was just about your age!. I think you'd be fantastic at ballet, I mean you are quite flexible you say!. Ballet is very hard work and you have to get every position correct for anything else to work, so I've learned!. Ballet can also be a lot of fun too! Like at my company, we do The Nutcracker every year and have new and better roles each year!. This year, my role is on pointe!. Pointe shoes don't hurt as much as everyone says they do, as long as you wear toe pads and toe tape!. I started pointe when I was 10, but most companies let girls start pointe once they think the student's muscles are developed!.

Whatever type of dance you choose, I hope you like it and have fun doing it!

I was a ballroom dance instructor for three years!. IF your twelve and you can almost do the spits, this is what i rocommend!. As long as you have nice long legs and you are flexibble, the jive, or salsa, or a mix of latin american like cha cha, but i would go try it out, it is a lot of fun!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's never too late to start any kind of dance! I started ballet when I was 15 and I have never been more flexible and in better shape! I love it! Hip-hop and jazz are a lot of fun and really give me the chance to express myself! Tap is another fun one! Just remember its never too late if you work hard and believe in yourself! Have fun! It is never too late to start if you have discipline!. Start with ballet to gain that as well as strength and balance!. Move onto jazz/tap/modern/lyrical etc after a year of ballet!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i agree with " Alyssa Jo" its never to late to start but make sure to take ballet as a base class!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
