I have the MOST trouble with spotting!. I get halfway around and then try desperately to find my own eyes again (if I'm facing the mirror) but end up looking in a different direction entirely!

So, I completely know what you're talking about!. I'd start off really slowly, with a slow song on your iPod or just one in your head!. In you studio (on appropriate floor, is what I'm getting at) go slow and start!. Start facing the front, and slowly turn, but keep looking, and then whip your head round to find your body again!.

Then all you can do is just try and go faster and faster!. Even if you don't get it, your instructor will understand!. Try not to blink while your spotting, so you don't get confused!.

Are you pulling up correctly!? If you keep falling in a specific direction, you might be pulling too hard that way!. For example, if you are doing them on the right side and you go forward on a diagonal, it means you are pulling to hard in your core, try straightening and pulling up your back more!. The same goes for traveling backwards, release your back a little!. also try to make sure you put your feet one after the other in a straight line!. If you step on a diagonal, you will go on a diagonal!. Try pretending you are on a tightrope!.

Make sure you are not leaning forward or back more then you should, I know, it is easier said then then en pointe because you lose your whole placement practically!. But it sound like that is your problem, ask your teacher how you can fix it!.
