Question: I want to start Contempary, what level should I enroll in!?
I've been taking Lyrical classes for half a year (and have been doing gymnastics for 6 years) and am really in love with dancing now and want to extend my reach to other styles of dance!. I would like to start contempary but was just wondering what grade/level I should start!. I don't think I'd be the bottom as I've had quite a bit of dance experiance but I'm not a pro lol!. A friend suggested level 2 but I'm not sure!. Any experianced dancers that have an idea!?

Thanks!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

You should probably start at the lowest level then work your way up!. If you've only have had half a year of dance that's probably not enough to get in a higher class then the beginner class since the dance style is different!. I take hip hop ballet lyrical for a few years now and I just started modern this year!. What you could do is start at the beginner class, and do that for a year then if its too easy then just skip a level the next year, which is what my friend and I did in hip hop!. If you decide to do the higher level class you may be a bit behind the others since they probably already took a year of the dance and they would be filmier with the terms and moves!. hope this helps, have fun dancing!Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you've had that much experience!.!.!.!.

I am a competitive dancer and gymnast!. So I know what you're talking about =]

I would start with the lowest level!. Just because contemporary is so much different than anything else!. After about a week, you should ask your teacher if you are good enough to move up!.!. If he/she says yes, than move up!. If he/she says no, then well, you have your answer!.

Contemporary is a lot different than any kind of dance!. It is kind of more difficult too!. You have to move in different ways then you would have to move in lyrical, or jazz, or ballet!. So start with the lowest, and get advice from your teacher!. =]

Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

i think you should start with a beginner's class and from there move up to a level you are comfortable with!.
the style will probably be different from what you've had experience with though, so it's good to start at the bottom and learn the basic techniques and stuff first:)

have fun!Www@QuestionHome@Com
