Question: Would doing the splits (as far as you can go )and hold it for 2 mins on the wall 3 times a day help by much !?
so basically everyone in my dance group is flexible exept me !. :(
we do the splits on the wall and hold it for 2 minutes !.
ive been doing that at home !.
i cant do it the whole way , but i go as far as i possibly can !. :)
ive been making sure my backs straight !.
i do it at least 2 - 3 times a day !.
and basic holding the feet thing !.
etc !.
what do you think !?

okay, so this is what my sister told all her girls and they all have their splits: if you hold you split for 1 minute every day for a week, your split will drop 1 inch closer to the ground!.
so!.!.!.!.!.you would be holding it for 4-6 minutes, if you did that every day for a week your split would be 4-6 inches closer to the ground!.

I am probably one of the most UNflexible people!. I'm built tall and lanky, and my hips are real tight!. I just pushed myself as far as I could go every day at dance, stretched like crazy, held my splits as far as I could, and I got them! Just practice! I mean I'm sure that doing that would help, but to me 2 min is a bit extreme!

You know what helps me!? I hold onto the barre at Dance and slide into my splits!. It helps put less pressure I guess on your legs and you don't have to balance as much!. Then I can slide into them at center with ease!

yes that would definitely help, you would soon see an increase in your flexibility!. another good form of stretching is a pnf stretch, this when your get somebody to push your leg so that it is stretching while kicked!. they do this for 30 secs and release then push it a bit further, repeat 4 times increasing the stretch each time, repeat for each leg!. this will defiantly work good look!!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

It will help, but another thing that will help is when you're watching tv just sitting on the floor in a split position for as long as you can hold it!. If you're concentrated on something else it makes holding it easier!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sounds like it should work - -stretching helps with flexibility, but there's also basic genetics involved!. If you're family isn't flexible, it may be tough for you!.

It helps but that's a lot of work!. Try doing oversplits or something!. It's the same stretch, less work!. Use a folded mat, or anything at that level!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
