Question: Where can I get flat-soled shoes suitable for ballroom dancing!?
I'm just wondering, are Keds or Vans suitable for ballroom dancing!? Even Converse, sneakers or something like that!. I don't have the money to spend on shoes that I'll probably only use for a few months!. Would it be okay to use these kinds of shoes as long as I clean it!? Www@QuestionHome@Com

They're not really suitable because they have a rubber sole which will stick to the floor too much!. also, if you're a girl, it's much easier to dance in heels because that's how the moves were meant to be done, you wouldn't think so, but dancing in flat shoes is much harder!. If you must wear flat shoes then I'd suggest something like a pair of ballet flats that don't have a rubber sole!. Otherwise I'd suggest a pair of low heels that have an enclosed heel!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, because the soles of them are often very slippery and bulky, causing you to clop around like a horse and slip all the time, and if you tango you can't make the right sound with your feet!. The best shoes to use:
---ballet flats with grippy rubber soles
---actual ballroom dancing shoes (also used in broadway)!. they come **best**anywhere from $20 to $80, depending on how comfortable you want them to be
---Jazz shoes-also dance shoes, but very cheap at the right places and sometimes very comfy
---very light weight running shoes, like a slim pair of nikes (not shocks)
---socks with grippy bottoms

Yeah!.!.!.!.uhm, I'm a dancer, and those are all the shoes I've seen dance through my ballroom classes!. Hope I helped :-DWww@QuestionHome@Com

well, if you are looking for shoes to just practice ballroom dancing in, then tennis shoes are acceptable!. you should try heels though because most dancing shoes have some sort of heel to them so you should get used to dancing in them!. any pair of heels should work if you have any, but they should be about 2 inches and no higher than that!. I doubt anyone will let you wear tennis shoes to ballroom dancing!. You have to wear "performance shoes"!. They are those t-strap heels from the 40's!. Call the place in your town that carries ballet slippers and point shoes!. They will have what you need and can also answer your questions about what soles can be worn but most dance studios won't let just any kind of shoe on their flooring!. They say it could mess the floor up!.
Good luck with it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
