Ok, first of all, splitsoles actually bend to fit your arch and "hug" your foot if you know what I mean!. Full soles don't bend very well if they bend at all and make you dance quite flat footed which makes your dancing look pretty bad!. In terms of salsa dancing, by far your best bet would be to get the splitsoled ones because theymake it easier to feel the floor which will help you a lot with salsa!. Which brands are good and which brands are bad just depends on the person, so I can't tell you which ones are good and which ones are bad because it's all based on personal opinion!. Personally, I despise Bloch, but that's only because they make horrible ballet shoes and they're jazz shoes aren't much better!. The jazz shoes - even the splitsoled ones - are too stiff and don't do anything at all for your feet to help you dance!. also, I would reccommend shopping off of http://www!.discountdance!.com/ because you will find the cheapest, best shoes off of there!. However, if you don't know what size to get to fit your foot correctly, your best bet would be to go to a reputable dance store in your area and have your shoes properly fitted!. You will be able to try on many different styles and brands and a lot of different sizes, so that will help!. Once you have determined what brand, style, fit, and size you like best, you will be able to order pairs as you need them off the internet for cheaper!. It will cost a lot in the store because it costs to be fitted and then they sell the shoes at the retail price, whereas Discound Dance puts some pretty heavy discounts on shoes in particular!. Hope all of this helped!

Single sole has a sole (bottom) that goes from the tip of the toe to the end of the heel!. Split sole has two soles (one on the toe & the ball of the foot and one on the heel) and then fabric of some sort in between!.

In Salsa dancing, you probably won't have to roll through your foot too much, so those will work just fine!. But if you go to a dance supply store (they're in the yellow pages) you can ask and/or get fitted!. Just make sure to call and make sure they have different types of jazz shoes and that your size is in stock!. If you don't know your dance shoe size, then just tell them your street shoe size (just make sure that you make it clear it's your street shoe size)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Capezio split sole jazz shoes
split soles give you much more flexibility in your feet!. while single soled shoes make your foot all one!.
your feet in dance has 2 parts!. (well actually like 6 but!.!.!.) the 2 main parts are the heel and the ball of your foot which it the front!. So you need to different pads(coverings) for the front and back of your foot!. so with a single soled shoe you basically are just using your whole foot as one whole thing not 2 separate ones!.
( i know i just rambled on but basically you need a split sole)
