Question: RECCOMMENDATIONS (POINTE SHOES) HELP please =]!?!?!?
Oki so in one of my other questions i explain about my old pointe shoes( there squishy at the box but the shank is in tack) everything else about the shoe is fine except the box!.
SO on my new pair that i have been asked to buy i would like a harder box!. one Girl in my class was saying your going to go through alot of pointe shoes!.!.!.!. but i cant not afford alot i recently bought these towards the end of may!. and used them 3-4 times in june,through 2 weeks in august, and through september till now!. i wouldnt say that was a long use like i wanted but i am going to use them as softblock but i need somehelp with buying a new pair!. so whats the best brand with the most life (girls in my class say that i break them in fast )
so please some recomnedations
i am also on a budget so i need something reasonable please =]

my shank now is 3/4 shank i would like a little stronger shank and a way way way stronger box our studio alowes anypointe shoes

The shank length is not going to make a difference, as someone who started out going through pointe shoes every week and a half, I have definitely taken my time to research this! The 3/4 shank is not going to make a difference, and for me getting a harder shank really helped! I found happiness in both the Grishko Ulanova I and the 2007!. The Vaganova was actually the perfect shoe for me but has now been discontinued!. Do not try the 2007 elite or pro because the box is actually softer! No matter what pointe shoe you buy though, the one thing that is really going to help (and this may sound weird) is strengthening your feet! You would think that the stronger your feet and ankles get, the more shoes you would use, but you can strengthen them to the point that they can be strong enough to dance easily on broken or dead shoes and will be strong enough that your shoes will last longer!. Sounds strange but that is what made me able to wear one pair of pointe shoes for entire semesters!. Hope that helps! I know this is a really hard problem!Www@QuestionHome@Com
ok i know it seems like a month isnt that long for pointe shoes but i know people who buy a new pair every week pointe shoes are supposed to last about eight hours, blochs have a hard box as well as grishkos! also try keeping a log of everytime you wear them and if they worked for you or not this should help when you are buying your next pair!! best of luck!!

i don't love them but capezios have a notoriously hard shank and box, so that may be a better choice for you!. i would stay away from chacott and be careful about which blochs i got!. make sure you are not buying performance shoes too, they break in easier and are generally softer!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If the box of the shoe is what's breaking down then I recommend you glue it to keep it harder longer!. First off, make sure you have a parent's supervision as the glue is quite toxic!. Don't get your face too close to it because the fumes are very strong and don't get it on any part of your skin, it's basically super glue!. Make sure the glue you are using is the kind they sell at the dancewear stores (i!.e!. Jet Glue!.!.!.it's actually a model glue for putting together model airplanes, cars, etc!. and you can also find it at a hobby store!. Make sure it is the 2nd to thinnest consistency!.) Pour a small pool, 4 or 5 drops, into the inside of the box of the pointe shoe!. Swirl it around so that it covers the bottom of the box and a little up the sides!. If you think you need to pour a little more make sure you do it before the first layer dries or else it will not be absorbed into the material!. Be sure to let it dry completely over night!. I don't recommend you gluing the outside tip of the box because it can be quite slippery!. also, it is best if you glue your shoes when they're brand new as this will definitely make them last longer before your break them in or down!. But you can use this method on used shoes to get a little more life out of them!. As far as the shank goes, I never had that problem, but I knew someone who used a hot-glue gun to glue the inner-sides of the shank!. Good luck and be careful with that glue!Www@QuestionHome@Com
