As a gym coach, I am going to say what you don't want to here!. You should not be learning round-off's, backward walk-overs, flicks, handsprings etc without the help of a fully professional coach!. We know what we're doing, we know how to support you and your back completely and you're unlikely to hurt yourself with a professional gym coach!. Go to a local gym club and enquire about recreational or teen gym classes!. You'll get there in no time, and you won't have to worry about hurting yourself, the coaches at the club must be level 2 or 3 to coach at club level, so they know what they're doing!.

For the box splits:
1!. Do a ten minute warm-up before even attempting to do the splits!. Make sure you stretch each of your muscles!. Do each stretch a few times to increase flexibility in those stretches!.!.
2!. Decide which leg is naturally easier for you to use!. Most people favour one of their legs more than the other and it will be much less difficult if you use the favoured leg at first!. To find out which leg you favour, place one foot in front of you and the other behind and stand for a few moments, then swap over and do the same!. The leg you had in front when you felt the most comfortable is your favoured leg!.
3!. Place your favoured leg in front of you and the other behind, standing up with your hips square!.
4!. Carefully slide down (sliding the front foot forwards and the back one backwards) as far as you can without forcing the movement!.
5!. Hold your position by supporting yourself with your hands!.
6!. Keep breathing and don't worry if it hurts a little bit!. This is normal if you're not used to doing the splits!.
7!. Don't force yourself into the splits flat on the ground because this could seriously injure your legs!. The pain in your muscles will ease off after a few minutes or so if you keep holding out!.
8!. Ease yourself down by a centimeter at the absolute maximum, if you feel ready!. Pushing more than that at one time will hurt and could cause damage to your muscles, so once you're down another centimetre, hold your position if it doesn't hurt too much!.
9!. Stop doing the splits if you've held the same split position for more than five minutes, or if you feel a lot of pain!. You know your own limits, so don't go over them!.
10!. Repeat the warm-up and splits practice every day and you'll be doing flat box splits in just a few weeks!.

Tips
* Don't go overboard when doing the splits for the first time; not everyone can just slide down into perfect flat splits!. If you can't do it straight away, just practice!
* Doing some kind of other exercise helps a lot before doing your warm-up, so skip (using a skipping rope), jog, run laps or anything like that before stretching!. Warm-up before warming-up!
* Be determined! You'll get it eventually!

Warnings
* Make sure you stretch thoroughly first!. Not stretching can cause pulled muscles as its worst effect and severe pain at the very least!. So stretch before trying to do something, this rule applies to all forms of dancing or gymnastics!.

For the splits make sure you stretch first so you don't pull a muscle, but what i did when i had to learn them is when i was watching tv to do them during the commercials!. If your can hold it the whole Commercial your good to go!. If you continue doing it over time you will get them!.

For the back walkover what i had to do in gymnastics is do a handstand and kick over onto a box or something relatively high (i used to use my couch) and just kept repeating it going over and over again!. When you get really comfortable with a height move or something closer to the ground until your doing them all on the floor!.

Im sorry but i really dont know how to explain hoe to learn how to do a round of, except if you can do a cartweel its almost the exact same thing but you land with both feet at the same time and if your tumbling you have to have a lot of power and force!. Try practicing cartweels landing with two feet then when you get good add a bit of a power hurdle by running and then going into a round-off!.

also i suggest you look into gymnastics classes in your area even if you choose a recreational class 1 hour a week!. You will defiatly see an improvment really fast!.

Heya! Pile up some cushions slide down into box splits as far as you can go!. Make sure that the cushions are piled high enough so your groin touches the cushions!. Slowly one by one take the cushions away untill you cant take any more away and aim to be able to remove all the cushions by a certain period of time like 3 months! You will not be able to do box splits over night the idea of the cushions is that you are easing yourself down!.
Hope this helps!. xWww@QuestionHome@Com
