Most people can "do it" but it's not common that you can do it correctly without hurting yourself or practicing!. if you want to go en pointe you need to have a strong demi-pointe first (standing on the ball of your foot or your tippie toes in other words)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm in my 19th year as a dancer and my 6th year as a dance instructor, and I can tell you that yes it is suppose to be hard to dance pointe!. At the studio I work at, we require our students to have a minimum of 5 years experience in ballet before going on pointe and they must also be strong in ballet (ie strong ankles, be able to hold a tight 5th position in borre, etc)!. One thing that I like to tell me students is to always smile so that when they are dancing pointe no one will know how much effort and pain actually go into dancing pointe!. One thing to remember, however, is that when one is dancing on pointe, they are wearing special pointe shoes which have a hard box that allows a dancer more ease to go on pointe!. No one should attempt to stand on their toes without having the proper shoes on because it can cause injury!. If someone is very determined to dance pointe, they can always find a way, but it is going to take a lot of practice and strengthening exercises!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes it is hard to do it correctly and without hurting yourself!. This requires years of good ballet training!. You wouldn't try doing flips on a balance beam in gymnastics without being taught how to do it would you!? If you're a dare devil maybe you might be able to pull something off, but you sure wouldn't be going to the Olympics!Www@QuestionHome@Com

It is hard, and you have to begin training for this at a young age!. It's even harder for men, because men weigh more and this puts more stress on the toes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I might be hard to get on pointe at first, i promise that it does not hurt!. I think it's really fun!!!
Good Luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com
