What you wear for practice can sometimes depend on the studio!. Some studios have a dress code, some don't!. My studio doesn't have a dress code, and the guys usually wear whatever they're wearing that day to practice, jeans (the most common choice), cargo pants or tracksuit pants with either a t-shirt or singlet!. If the studio has a dress code then they usually expect you to wear either dress pants or practice pants with a plain shirt or t-shirt!. For shoes I would definitely advise getting proper dance shoes if you plan to continue in the long term, but until you do dress shoes would be fine, I wouldn't advise wearing joggers as the rubber sole will stick to the floor too much, but they'd be alright for a little while if you haven't got anything else!. I am a competitive ballroom dancer, it depends what type of ballroom dancing you're doing(there's 3 type: latin american, modern/standard and new vogue[in Australia]) If you're just doing standard then wear a knee length or lower skirt with your hair up in a pony tail and a nice top (if you don't have proper dancing shoes then wear some sketchers or something like that and make sure they look alright)!. If you're doing latin then wear a shorter skirt but not to short and a tighter top with your hair up and new vogue is basically the same outfit for standard just a longish skirt with a nice top!.
Hope this helps and good luck

You can wear any kind of clothing really!. Shoes you should really get some prooper dance shoes, or at least wear formal shoes

As the 'professional' down there said Latin is Ballroom I feel the need to correctly inform you that it isn't!. That's why it's called Latin Dancing and not Ballroom Dancing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I dance ballroom & latin and for group lessons, my partner (a man) simply wears jeans (loose) and a t-shirt!. It boils down to what you can comfortably move in!.

As for shoes, we both wear leather soled dance shoes, suede is preferable!. We get our shoes at: www!.showtimedanceshoes!.com!.

For dance/practice parties, he wears nice pants, usually black or khaki and a button down dress shirt with the same suede bottom shoes!.

Good luck to you!
