Hi there,

So I bought a theraband to help strengthen my ankles for ballet and it works great! The only problem is the smell!. It's so bad! When I took it out of the tube it came in, there was some kind of powder on it (and there still is a little)!. I am reluctant to use it because it stinks up the room I use it in, and I have to wash my hands 5 times just to get rid of the stench!

I heard somewhere that you can put baby powder on it to help!. Would that ruin the band!? I have the blue coloured theraband made by Bunheads (I'm pretty sure it's the heavy weight) if it helps!.

Please, if anyone has experience with smelly therabands or exercise bands, your advise is greatly appreciated!.

The theraband really does smell bad and that is because of the no-stick powder on it so that the theraband doesn't slip when you get sweaty!. What I would do is soak the theraband in hot, soapy water for about 20 minutes and scrub it with a sponge to remove all of the powder!. Don't dry it but instead but a little baby powder on a wet paper towel and rub it all around the theraband make sure that there isn't a thick layer on it at all or else the baby powder will get cakey!. Now blow dry it or leave it out in the sun (preferably blow dry in case of mildew) to totally dry it!. It should smell a lot better without the powder junk on it!. Don't worry, it won't slip now that you have put on the baby powder!. YOu should do this every other month or so if it gets bad again!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i had the same problem! so what i did was first soak it in hot soapy water, then scrub it!. next rub baby powder over the entire thing! the baby powder helps keep the theraband non-sticky!. it worked perfectly! the baby powder will not ruin the theraband!. hope i helped! good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com
