You have to remember that when do a grande rond de jambe en l'air, your leg must always lift higher in a la seconde!.The quad is the biggest muscle in the leg so naturally it wants to do all the work so it sometimes gets in the way of using the proper muscles!. A common misconception is that we should be using the inner thigh to lift the leg!. In reality, it is actually the hamstring that does the lifting, the inner thigh helps hold the turn out!. BUT, all of this only happens if you concentrate more on the supporting leg!. If you lengthen the supporting leg as if it is the one doing the work, this allows the proper muscles of the working leg to be used!. So next time you're in class, concentrate using more of your energy on your standing leg!. Is it lengthened and "wrapping" in a turned out position!? Is your foot flat on the ground and not "rolling"!? Is your knee pulled up and not bent or buckling as you lift and rond your working leg!? So many things to think about but start with the standing leg!.!.!.that's the key!. also, I agree with a previous post that you should first try keeping your leg at a strong 45 degree angle to start!. Then work your way up to 90!. Good luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

For your RondeJambes En L'Air dont go as high as the outher ladies, i am a male dancer who is only 17 and has been danceing for 11 years now, plus i dance 21 hours a week so i know whats good!. Anyways dont go as high as the ladies stay at 45 degresse dont go to 90 degresse as my ballet teacher sais, Only when you compleat one step you can move on, As far a foot streches goes i have nice excersize, have a partner tak your feet in pont and lay over them with there hand cuped over your feet and toes It works nice Www@QuestionHome@Com

Concentrate on lifting the knee and pushing it back as far as possible!. There is also an exercise where you hold your knee up to the side with your arm and extend your leg as if it was to go into a la seconde'!. Do sets of these with at least 10 reps often and it will build your strength and work your turn out!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

do some turnout practice excerises!.!.!.
if you have your front and your back im sure your squeezing your butt muscles but make sure you do tht too!.

when you have a turnout it is so much easier to do developes and en l'airs than having a parallel leg drop!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
