Dance is sooo a sport!. I am 13 (almost 14)!. I have been dancing since I was 3!. And I still am!. I've done ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, hip-hop, a stretching class, and ballroom!. I have also helped teach classes!. Plus if dance were easy they'd call is soccer or football or anyother sport!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Dance, although just as physically demanding, and in some cases such as classical ballet is even MORE demanding as sports or athletics, is not and should not be considered a sport!. It is a discipline (i!.e!. martial arts) and at it's highest form, it is art!. Unfortunately in the ballet world, the "tricks" have become much more important than the expressiveness and the different nuances and subtleties that make it an art form!. It is a rare occasion that I am moved emotionally by a performance like I was in the past with such dancers as Baryshnikov, Makarova, Kirkland, Bujones, Farrell, Nureyev, and Gregory!.!.!.just to name a few!. Maybe dance would be more popular if it were called a sport, and maybe we as dancers would get paid more! But, if we lose it as an art form, then we lose the ability to express ourselves!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Dance is a combination of both a sport AND an art!

A sport because it's physically demanding- even more so that a lot of sports!

An art because it's about what comes from within, and that's what makes it beautiful!. Dance is about what you're looking at, and the beauty of it!.

So, personally, I think dance is both and art and a sport!. However, this is a contriversey that has been going on for a longgg time, and probably will continue to for many years to come!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I've also been dancing almost my whole life!. This is my ninth year! (I'm 13)!. But I have to say, you are completely wrong!.

I love dance with all of my heart, and that's why I can say that it's not a sport!. Although it is just as physically demanding as any sport there is (or maybe even more so), it is not a sport!. Dance is an art!. It's beautiful!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

yes it should! we use speed, agility, and grace!. we also use every muscul in our body unlike everything else where you only use some!. it is also more demanding because its not just running after a ball!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think some dance forms like ballet and pointe are both sports and art forms wereas in my opinion, breakdancing is only a sport, not an art form!.!.!.

Have a nice day!!
