Yeah, I'm sure that would be fine!. I just auditioned for a full-time professional ballet school, by dancing there a week with all the other students!. Most of them were wearing extra layers like shorts and pants, at least at the start!. You should be fine, especially seeing as you're just starting!. Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I understand how you are feeling about the leotard!. Trust me, please, you will get used to it!. You will not feel at all self conscious if everyone else has the same!.

Does your school have a dress code!? If you have an information booklet or something from them, then check this!. It may have something written like "a leotard, tights and ballet slippers are required for all classes!. hair must be up in a bun!. no pants or shorts!." You need to check this!. If it doesn't say anything about the pants or shorts, bring them with you!.

See what everyone else in your class is wearing!. If they are all in shorts or something, then go ahead and wear them!. If they are all in just leotards, it would be disrespectful to the teacher to wear them, and you'll get straightened up very quickly!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, i they are tight shorts maybe you can!. I am ballet dancer and usually, girls only wear tights and leotard, but if you feel uncomfortable, you may ask your teacher if its proper to use shorts!. Anyway, I think you will get used to wearing the leotard and tights only!.

Good luck!!! My mail is danceboy@hotmail!.es, in case you need anything!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

at my dance studio we cant wear anything but our leotard and tights in ballet!. in lyrical and all the other classes you can wear shorts and stuff but not in ballet!. it just depends on where you are going!. also, i was a little uncomfortable in my tights and leotard at first but after you get to class and you see everyone else in it you feel better=]Www@QuestionHome@Com

i know how you are feeling but you get used to it my teacher will not let me wear shorts or skirts you properly can not wear shorts or skirts they do not let you wear shorts or skirts because they want to see how your legs are working but you can wear shorts and a shirt to jazz and hip hop and other stuff but not in balletWww@QuestionHome@Com

Wear the shorts, worst case is you are asked to take them off!.!.!.

I take dance lessons at two different places: one, a very formal studio, they do not allow shorts over the leotard!. and another that's at more of a recreational studio that allows shorts only for warmup!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I doubt it!. Even studios that aren't strict with other dance classes can get stricter in ballet class!. I come from a very easy going studio, but when you are in ballet they do get stricter!.

So, I say no shorts!.

Have a nice day!!

if they are booty shorts yes, but nothing baggy because ballet teachers have to see your body in order to correct what you need to work on and since you are a beginner, this is very important!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Go ahead and wear the shorts!. If your teacher asks to to take them off explain your insicurity in jsut the leotard and tights!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

try wearing tight shorts and also check into see what the studio says about it!. but don't wear anything to baggy such as nike shorts

it depends if it is a very formal dance place!. You should just bring shorts and see what everyone else is wearing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
