please do not go en pointe without a proper instructor!. even if you were strong enough you would need to buy the shoes, ribbons, elastics, proper attire, find the proper surface (usually a sprung floor with marley and no bumps), big mirrors, and a barre!. you could get injured and decrease your chances of ever being able to dance!. you need to have at least 2 years of instruction because you need to master all of the steps on flat before moving up to pointe as well as strengthening your entire body!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree with Princess Savage!.

First off, if you have never taken ballet classes at all then don't even think about going en pointe!.

Second, if you have done ballet, make sure it's at least 3-5 years of solid training from pros or ex-pros!. Even then, make sure you are extremely flexible and have amazing demi footwork!. I know a lot of people are going to say don't do it unless you have the proper training and I agree 100%! But, if you are really determined and HAVE taken ballet for 3-5 years before running into your money problem, try the following things!.

Make sure to have all of your splits down (right, left, middle), make sure your split leaps and all other jumps are impeccable, make sure you can do at least a double pirouette!.!.!.
Basically make sure that all of your demi footwork, like I said before, is amazing!.

also, you must have strong ankles!. Stand on the edge of yours stairs and hold onto the railing!. Do 30 releves and then a deep plie!. Then, do 10 releves with one leg in coupe derrire, switch, and repeat!.

IMPORTANT:
If you have no idea what a releve, plie, or coupe is, PLEASE do not even attempt pointe!.

So basically, if you have had the proper instruction, have amazing demi footwork, flexibility, and strong ankles, I would say try to get classes!. Maybe you can work at a studio teaching little kids and they will pay towards your classes!.

If you don't have the training, do not go en pointe, PLEASE!

Have a nice day!!
