Hi, I have some suggestions for you:

1) Have a chat with your ballet teacher and ask if she thinks you have potential in ballet!. If she's a good teacher she will be honest with you and not raise your hopes if you don't have the potential!.

2) Don't worry too much about going to a vocational ballet school at 12!. You can apply at 16 and see if you can get a DADA (Dance and Drama Award) to help with the fees!.

3) If your teacher thinks it would be a good idea, it would be worth doing ballet twice a week instead of just once!. You don't necessarily need to have private lessons, even group lessons twice a week are worth doing!.

4) If you live near enough to them, a lot of the Vocational Schools in the UK have Outreach days where you can go and see the school and have dance classes there for a day!. Depending on where you live, have a look at the websites for the Royal Ballet School, Elmhurst, Hammond, and Arts Ed at Tring to see if they hold any Outreach days!.

5) All these schools also run what's known as Pre-Vocational Programmes (PVPs or Associates) for children that are talented at ballet!. These are usually by audition once a year!. At Arts Ed (Tring) these are known as JCs and they audition in about June for classes starting in September!.

These classes are held at the weekend and are wonderful as you get a chance to dance at a Vocational School and classes are taught by fantastic teachers, most of whom teach at the Vocational School during the week!.

All the above schools have some aided place where some of the fees are paid by the Government under the Music and Dance Scheme (MDS)!. The Royal Ballet School at White Lodge has the highest proportion of these places but it is the hardest to get into!.

So have a chat to your teacher, ask your parents about doing another class each week and have a look at the websites below to see about Associate Programmes and Outreach Days!.

And (my jaw dropped at this) there's no need to do 11 classes a week!

Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think you should continue ballet, but if your really want to become a ballerina, I think you should enter a posh ballet school!. And if you can't afford that then keep trying, maybe when you a little bit older like when you are 16, ask your ballet teacher if you have what it takes to become a ballerina and then decide if you really want to become a ballerina and join a posh ballet school!. I consider Vaganova Ballet Academy!.also, I don't think once a week is enough training!. Work hard and good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

everytime you get out of ballet class, write down what you did that day, combo's you like and or need to work on, correctons that your teachers give you, strethes to help you,ect

after class, ask your teacher what you can do to improve, and when she gives you teqniqu corrections, act on it emidietly

the days you dont have class, do bar execises behind a chair or whatever

also, when you hear about auditions for something, go to the auditions and see what they say!.!.!.if they deny you then you got the experience and that should motavate you to improve and audition next time!.!.!.!.if they accept you the next year u know youve gotten betterWww@QuestionHome@Com

whatever you do!.!.!.do not let this bring you down!. just try harder and put a little more effort than u usually did!. every ballet school is different!. it is just like really school if u are moving on to a higher grade like 7th or 8th you will have to adjust to the higher standerds!. if you wish to become a great ballet dancer than keep trying and never give up!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Keep practicing and you will rise!. Have confidence in yourself! Smile! I have realized that just being an all around person, but also full of self- confidence, and determination helps you be noticed in a good way!

You will get there!

I am also 12 and have been doing ballet for five years!. If your school does not have a ballet school, you can check out some videos and learn from there!. If your school does have a ballet academy, usually they buy the shoes and stuff for you too!. Good luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

My sister has just started doing ballet and she loves itWww@QuestionHome@Com

You really need to be doing more than one ballet class a week if you are serious about being a dancer!. Where my daughter goes, and she is only five, she has 11 classes a week, ranging from 3 ballet classes, two tap classes, song and performance, classical greek, Jazz, modern, Hip Hop!.!.!.!. all these different subjects enhance different muscles and make life easier when looking at going to dance as a career!. My 5yo daughter is currently Grade 1 RAD, taking her exam in March, although she also does non-syllabus Ballet, and private lessons where she learns the Grade 2 syllabus!. At her dance school most girls aim to go onto pointe at about age 10/11, and by the age of 12 they are probably dancing at least 12 or 13 hours a week!. I really think that you need to work very hard at your dance if you are serious about dance as a career, and then at 15, once you have caught up with other girls your age, look at auditioning for Dance colleges, such as Tring, Royal Academy of Dance, Hammond etc, and apply for a scholarship if you believe your not able to afford the fees!. However, be aware that usually there are about 200 girls after 5 or 6 scholarships, so you really need to be THE BEST!. It is no good being mediocre at dance, you really hvae to be the best! Good luckWww@QuestionHome@Com
