I was a ballet dancer, but had to quit because of an injury!.!.!.so I turned to ballroom!. I've been doing that for a year now!. and!.!.!.I feel like!.!.!.I'm just not any good!. It's not that anyone says it, but!.!.!.(let this sound conceited) I don't ever get praised!. I get the steps right, but I guess I want that real fire!.!.!.to have it be more than just the steps!.

Last night my teacher yelled at me like crazy, because I just couldn't get one step right!. I mean!.!.!.whenever we learn a new figure I'll get it wrong around 5 times before having it in my muscle memory!.

I mean, my partner (who is also my boyfriend)!.!.!.doesn't have any sense of rhythm!.!.!.but itS' fun with him!. Sometimes it annoys me how much of a non-rhythmic person he is, but it's fun!.

Last night I also got a really high praise from
a friend of mine, she said that our Samba looked incredible, but!.!.!.I just!.!.!.I want more!. I want to be seriously great at it!.

Help!? Do I seriously suck or am I imagining things!? Www@QuestionHome@Com

No hon, you don't suck!. You do sound like you want more of an experience though!. Have you ever tried creative visualization!? You simply expect the best from yourself and, while you are dancing, you visualize yourself doing the moves as you would like them to be done!. You can follow this up with affirmations when you are not dancing ex: "I am the hottest, most graceful ballroom dancer ever"!. There are lots of resources on this topic, just google it as I'm not sure which one to recommend!. You could also try videotaping yourself dancing so that you can see what others see!. This could help you learn more about your strengths and weaknesses!. I hope you keep having fun as this is a skill you can enjoy lifelong! Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

No you probably don't suck, it's just that fantastic dancing has to come from within, you have to love what you do and want it more than anything!. I don't think that I've ever really been praised in my dancing, I've never had an instructor say to me, that was great!. You just have to know that you are good, it has to be self praise!. When you get a move right, tell yourself that you're a good dancer!. It also helps to have something aspire to, someone to look up at and say, I want to be as good as them!. Try looking up some videos of Bryan and Carmen on Youtube (nine times undefeated world latin champions)!. also, a good teacher shouldn't really be yelling at you if you don't get a move!. Maybe switching to a teacher with a more positive attitude would help!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
