Slow rhythm dancing is much like ballroom dancing, but modified to fit the situation!. And almost nobody knows what they're doing, so you (1) won't be all alone in this regard and (2) will see everybody else doing things that don't make good sense!.
There are a few video clips on line, but it's easier to find ballroom dancing, either foxtrot or waltz, and make the appropriate modifications!.
In ballroom hold, the man's left hand and the woman's right are held together gently, with the shoulder down, the elbow out a little lower than shoulder height, and the forearm held more or less upright, with the hand at about the height of the woman's nose!. In social dancing, the arm is held a bit lower and closer!.
The man's right hand in ballroom is held over the woman's left shoulder blade, and the woman's right hand rests on top of the man's upper arm!. In social dancing, again more compact, the man's right hand may go around the small of the woman's back, with the hand over the spine, and the woman's hand may go up above the man's shoulder!. Whatever's comfortable in this range will work!.
The entire upper half of your body should move as one unit!. If you can practice (bite the bullet and ask your mom!) If you place yourself in the above-described starting position, your arms should not move in relation to the torso during the dance!. That gives a lot of the "feel" for lead and follow!.
If you have the hold and "frame" right, the rest is easy!. That, of course, is easier said than done!. I've been dancing ballroom for ten years and still have to work hard on it, and a top pro once told me he estimated he'd spent $60,000 learning how to keep his right shoulder still!.
The movements themselves are pretty simple!. If your weight is on your right foot, it's your left foot that's gonna move!. Try it and it becomes quickly obvious!. There aren't but three ways that foot can move: forwards, backwards, or to the side, a small step!. The guy gets to pick which, and the girl has to feel which way he's going, and move with him!. Now your weight is on the foot that just took that step, so it's time for the other foot to take a step, and again, it can only go forwards, back, or to the side!. The whole dance is just a repitition of the same!. Any individual step may take be a "quick" step, one for a single beat of the music, or it may be a "slow" step, taking up two beats of music, and that's what gives the dance some musicality!.
You won't die if you don't get it right, and these are only guidelines to make things move well, so you shouldn't worry too much about any of it!. The idea is to have a good time!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Right hand on the small of her back, left hand in her right hand!.
Get your parents to show you!. try Billy Joel piano man, it is probably the newest song with a waltz beat!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
