Question: Ballet dancing newbie here!?!?
a new studio opened up around me and i was wondering if i could join ballet, i am fifteen and i know i wouldent get put in the pointe class at first but i was just kind of wondering if you think i could even take a class like that, given i have only been dancing for 5 years and most of it has been jazz, and lyrical moderney stuff
but anyway i do learn really fast because and dance camp i got on the elite team so do you think that i could do it and go to pointe within doing a year of ballet!?!? any other thoughts or comments!. and yes i know my feet will hurt!. alot!. yes!. i know that!. please dont tell me again!.!.

You can definitely join ballet and with your dance background, you would be a great candidate for en pointe!.

However, to get on pointe, teachers usually recommend that you take at least 2 years of ballet and even then, your teachers would be the one that recommends you go onto pointe!.

Pointe is hard to learn--think about it: you're balancing your entire body on a 1sq inch piece of wood!. For that you need extreme dedication, balance, strength (ankle and legs mostly), and endurance!.

Pointe isn't something that you can just jump into because it looks pretty!. It usually takes a lot of practice and even then, you'll have something go wrong!.

Good luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

yes you should defidently start ballet!.
but actually its not your decision of if you want to go en pointe or not!.
its all up to your director!. it isn't if your good at the steps, its if you develop ankle, thigh and butt muscle!. Like for instance you may think that you know how to do a plie, but its a 98 % chance that your not doing it right!. you have to squeeze your butt muscles so tight, that you feel like they are popping out of you!.

do you see what i mean!?!?

good luck!!

i've did tap and jazz and hiphop for two years before i joined ballet and i had natural talent so the next year i got on pre pointe which is a pointe class but at the recital there is no dance so you can really focus on the technique for the whole yearWww@QuestionHome@Com

Learn fast and work hard only gives you 50%of being in the pointe class, the other 50% is you do all the steps the correct way!.You should try ballet, all the hard works are worth it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

yeeah! but its not your descision its the directors!. but defintly take up ballet its great i love it!. same thing happenned too me!. if you learn fast and work hard its deff possible!Www@QuestionHome@Com
