The most common misconception of the human anatomy where it comes to dance and in specific ballet on pointe, is that you need good arches in order to have a better pointe, that is very wrong, the arch plays VERY LITTLE function in pointing the foot and has more function in aesthetic and visual appeal of a ballerinas pointe!. The muscles on the underside of the foot where the arch is however, can be strengthened by pointing and flexing with a theraband of medium to high resistance strength!.
What you need to really work on for better pointe, are 2 OTHER areas!.
1!. is ankle mobility!.!.!. stretching and strengthening the muscles and joints that make up the ankle in order to give a better leverage when the foot points!.

2!. are your toes and the area upwards from the ball of your foot, the muscle and ligamental connections need to be stretched gently but with consistence and also strengthened with a thera band so that you can sustain time and endurance being on pointe!.

its not an easy job and it takes ALOT of time with much or little result but persistence is the key if you really want to improve, dont think about the arch but the other areas that need work in order to make being on pointe happen!.

There are some people with ankles that will never be flexible enough for pointe!. There are some people with very flexible ankles and very little foot arch!. BUT there are solutions for both scenarios!

ya know, if you have flat feet, that can also affect the way your arch looks, because you kind of have no arch!.
i had to start wearing non-flat shoes!. just wear regular shoes but put gels in them or somethingWww@QuestionHome@Com
