Actually, there isn't one!.

The youngest medal winner in a single event ever at the summer games was a 12 year old girl, the youngest gold medal winner just 13, both competing in the 1936 Berlin games!.

The youngest competitor since 1900 was an eleven year old boy who represented spain in a rowing event in 1992 Barcelona games!.

The youngest ever winter olympic competitor was only 11, in 1932!.

But they do generally agree that fourteen is a guideline age!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i always thought it was like 17 or something!. i know that they were debating it after one year when the gymnastics team had some 14-yr-olds on it!.

EDIT: princess, that's true that in the past there were very young athletes winning medals but recently (as in the past 10 years) i do remember that they've insituted minimum age requirements for athletes competing!. there is, however, no age maximum!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well the Youth olympics is 14 - 18 yrs old!.

some Olympic sports have a minimum age limit!.

gymnastics age limit is 16
boxing age limit is 19 (but not older than 36)
cycling limit is also 19
swimming and diving age limit is 15
soccer age limit should not be older than 23 (but each team has the prerogative to put three players over 23 years old)
