just wondering if anyone knows the basic stuff i need to know when i try out!. im trying out for jazz, hip hop, and tap teams and im 13, so i'll be in the teen division!. thanks so much!.!.!.!. any advice is appreciated! =)Www@QuestionHome@Com Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I'm currently on a competition team and getting moved into another one, but my dance teacher knew me well enough to move me up!. Aside from dressing properly (dance attire; tights, leotard, shorts, proper shoes!. And wearing your hair neatly put back) The key to charming the judges is keeping an honest (not too big to the point it's fake) smile that they can see through your eyes!. Another big thing is keeping eye contact!. Make sure you nail your dance and have it down and if you make mistakes be sure to cover them up with a smile!. Just dance your heart out on the stage and bring out all the energy you can on the stage! Let your love of dancing just spill out onto the stage!. Make sure you keep your audition sharp and keep your hands in the right spot && toes pointed for jazz! Good Luck! You'll do fine, don't be nervous at all!. I would make sure that your hair is done up in such a way that it won't interfere with your dancing!. Nothing is worse that having to dance with hair in your eyes or mouth!. Shoes are important!. Make sure that your taps are tightened to your desire and won't fall off!. (Use a really small screwdriver to tighten or loosen the screws in the taps of the tapshoes!.) also, the shoes you use for your jazz and hip hop, should be in good condition!. Wear something that will make you stand out from the crowd, not neon orange and purple mind you, just something to make you stand out to the judges!. However, don't sacrifice flexibility and mobility to look good!. Try to wear the same clothes for all parts of your audition!. This gives the judges something to recognize and identify with you!. This way they can say the girl in the orange and purple skirt did well in both parts etc!. Good luck and smile big! I always look right at the judges-and dont look away!. Then they'll be forced to look at you!. Don't hold back and give it all you got!. Plus smiling helps!
