Belly dancing is one of the easiest dance styles to learn - although that is not the same thing as "mastering" it! You can learn enough to do some simple routines in just a few weeks!.

Nothing should hurt, really, unless you are very unfit!. Belly dancing is very gentle on the body!. If your back hurts, be careful because you're doing it wrong! You're probably arching your back, which can cause injury - so ask your teacher to correct your posture!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

My girlfriend is a bellydance teacher - she loves it!. She has been bellydancing non stop for 8 years!. she didnt start to perform for atleast 2 years!. Some movements are easier to pick up then others - practice practice practice - dont give up and say its too hard!. Nicky tells her students to pracitice anywhere - shimmy in the shower while you are washing your hair, making cofee, standing out in the cold!.!.anywhere!. Make sure you have a good teacher who can break the movement down for you and she should have at least a few different explanations for that one movement!. give your body time to learn the movement - some people take years to master the shimmy!. in relation to your body hurting - it shouldnt really hurt at all - your muscles may ache a bit the next day - remember most of those muscles you dont really use in everyday life - but if you have severe back pain or hip pain check your posture and tell your teacher - maybe she can go over your basic bellydance posture again!. - I hope that helps - if you have anymore questions im only too happy to get my girlfriend nicky to answer your questions!. i never really mastered belly dancing but ive been watching it and try to do some of the dances the one lady at the y teaches it so i did some for her she wanted me to join her and the class but i mostly did it for the gal down the street who freshly converted whom used to dress like a total slut and now shes convinced that since she wears a burka she is a born again virgin and there is absolutly no talking to her its like that wind up toy you pull the string and it says a cow says shes totally convinced i need the message and nowWww@QuestionHome@Com
