Ah, dance auditions!. I've been to a fair number of them and have observed what works and what doesn't and what can get you the wrong kind of attention!.

Tips on remembering choreography:
1!. You will get full benefit from copying the moves yourself!. This is sort of a given, most dancers remember better from "doing", rather than just watching!.
2!. Until you've basically learned the dance, beware of "marking" everything!. Especially in theatre, practicing full out always helps the performance!. Save marking for when you're on your own or other groups are actually auditioning (if you haven't gone already)!.
3!. Don't hesitate to ask a fellow auditionee for help, remember, they're in the same boat as you!. For the most part, we help each other out!.
>Of course remember to use whatever methods help you learn remember best, everyone is different<

Tips on standing out (and what not to do):
1!. The more front and center you are, the better!. I use to hate putting myself right out in front, but believe me, it's usually worth it!. Especially if they can see you are really working hard and are committed to the audition!. Practicing on your own is sometimes noticed too!.
2!. If the teacher asks about questions, or even if she doesn't, don't be afraid to ask for clarification about a step!. Most teachers say that they appreciate a student asking for information that can help them!. It also shows that you are serious about learning!. In any case, it's better to know the right step than to not ask and get it wrong!.
3!. While auditioning, don't hesitate to smile, or give whatever emotion/attitude the part requires!. It's a big plus, especially in theatre casting!. They love it when auditionees give more than they're asked!.
4!. If you mess up during the audition, DON'T STOP DANCING!. Keep your "game face" and just keep moving!. Even if you've screwed up a few steps, at least they'll see that the performer in you doesn't give up!. Whatever you do, don't just stop and stand there doing nothing, I did that once and guess what!? I didn't get the role!.
5!. If they don't assign you to a certain audition group and if you're feeling confident enough, volunteer for the first group!. Taking that plunge is admirable!.

On a miscellaneous note, if the application you fill out has a "conflicts" section, don't put down anything unless it's a rock solid, unflexible prior committment!. If it looks like you'd miss a week or two of rehearsals, they probably won't cast you!. I also learned this the hard way!. Once you get a part, directors can be flexible depending on the circumstances!.

Above all, stay true to who you are, relax, and have fun! Enjoy yourself!. Auditions are great experiences, even if you're not cast!. You learn a lot!. Hope this helps, Good luck! :)

i had a workshop dance audition last thursday for my college musical theater btec course!.

i gt thru so i guess i now what im talking about

1!. if your struggling with remembering the moves ask the 'teacher' or a fellow 'auditionee' to go over the section again!. chances are someone else may be struggling to
2!. when your dancing use your face!! this is a must!. act with your face !.!. act excited/seductive/energetic!. whatever the song needs you to act like!.
3!. if you forget the moves!.dont panick!!. you may forget a step but if you stay calm and dont draw attention to the mistake by panicking!. chances are they might not notice!.!. but if they do they will be impressed by your profesionalism!.
4 if you do your best but you dont get it!. you at least no you did your very best

good luck you will b fab :) xWww@QuestionHome@Com
