Question: Contemporary, Lyrical, Modern!?
Ok, so I watch So You Think You Can Dance, and I always looove the contemporary pieces!. I would love to take a contemporary class, but none are offered at my studio!. They do however offer lyrical, as well as modern!. Of the two, which would be closest to contemporary!. I always thought modern and contemporary were the same thing, but I heard they aren't!. Is that true!? Anyway to get the closest to contemporary style what class should I take!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Contemporary and modern are different!.

The problem about contemporary is that there's no right and wrong, and there's many different styles--some more modern like and some more lyrical like!.

Personally however, I would suggust taking lyrical, as So You Think You Can Dance contemporary pieces are usually closest to lyrical!.

I would take a modern class!. i personaly think that modern is closest!. Because modern is more faster than lyrical!. Lyrical is ballet and a soft jazz mixed together and modern is lyrical and a contemporary!. Well thats my opinion!.
