Question: When may I be looking at going on pointe!?
I danced when I was much younger, but was never very serious!. I ended up quiting before going into the 5th grade!. Then i regreted it for so long!. In 7th grade I started dancing again, taking a theater dance class once a week!. This last school year, 8th grade, I switched focus and started taking a ballet class once a week!. It was a very basic beginner class, and i made progress throughout the year!. This summer, started a more intense program!. I take class 4 days a week, and each class in one and a half hours long!. After just one month in the class the teacher asked for me to come into the next level class for a technique evaluation to see if I should be placed in that class!. I am looking a head, and wondering how long it will take me to get on pointe!. I am entering 9th grade this fall, and am very focused on improving in ballet!. Any experienced dancers, or people who have been in a similar situation have any ideas!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

wow, honestly you sound so much like me! except i only did ballet for a small portion of my childhood!. its good your taking 4 ballet classes a week!. that's I'mportant!. im en pointe and Ive been doing ballet for about 2 1/2 years or less!. if your committed to getting en pointe then try very hard during classes and take into consideration all the pointers your teacher gives out!. teachers look for ankle strength like balance, and demi pointe strength!. also good turnout, soft ballet arms, and knowledge of terms for ballet like the names of skills!. if your ankles are fairly strong then maybe 1 or 2 years if you practice toe raises every night (100 reps)!. good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

i danced since i was 3 and i entering 9th grade also i started pointe i 6th grade and my addvise is to keep trying your best and stay focused on ballet maybe you could say to your teacher that you are intersted in starting pointe and you would like to know what you could do to prepare for pointe!. things you should work on are your arch your ankle strength and your turn out!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Try asking your teacher about pointe classes, she may be concerned of the strength of your ankles though!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's impossible to say!. If you're over 12 then any time really!. That could be tomorrow, or never!. You're on a good track though with the number of classes you're taking and such!. Talk to your teacher about it!. So you don't seem too eager say something like, I was hoping I could dance en pointe someday and was wondering what I can do to get there!. That's how I got there! But since you've only been doing this seriously for a few months now, you need to be a bit more patient!. I've never heard of ANYONE starting pointe (at a good school) before they've been dancing at least 6 months somewhat seriously!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
