That's great that you've already cut out junk food - although don't deprive yourself!. Once in a while won't hurt you!. also, the fruits and salads are great to be eating!. You can also include veggies, like if you're hungry for a snack, eat some cut up veggies (I always keep fresh cut up veggies in ziplock baggies for when I need a refreshing snack)!. My dance teacher swears by this percentage in her diet and I use it for mine!. Eat about 55-60% carbs, 20-25% protein, and 20% fat each day!. Obviously, if you eat 55% carbs you would eat 25% protein!. Again, don't deprive yourself though!. also, once you start your class in September, you may notice you are more hungry than what you are say now!. So you may want or need to eat slightly more the days your dance classes are!. Try and aim for the healthy carbs (such as whole wheat bread, whole wheat rice, whole wheat pasta, etc!.) and good proteins (such as peanut butter, fat free or low fat milk)Personally I just eat a couple spoonfuls of peanut butter plain and a big glass of milk (: haha
Start getting into the mode of drinking more water because it can really help hydrate and keep you energize because once your class starts you may become more tired as well!.

also, for exercising your body to keep yourself lean and in shape, I would suggest pilates, swimming, biking, running stairs, and jogging!. Stretch a lot and work on all kinds of flexibility!. For strength training do a LOTTT of sit-ups/crunches!. It will help your leaps and jumps in class and it shapes the core of your body, which controls basically everything in dance!. Push-ups will also be good!.

Hope this helps!. Good luck! (:Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, you don't have to starve yourself I am still ballet and eat EVERYTHING but i'm not least worried about my shape but i guess i can give you tips well you don't have to starve yourself by just eating fruits it's good you're cutting back on junk foods but everyone has to have fast food once in awhile you can still combine between ballet and your life like if you go to mcdonalds you have to get a kiddle meal with apple dippers but if you're body replies to food very well and makes you gain weight easily maybe you should talk to your fellow doctor about that but in my beginners ballet they don't really care about your size and weight as long as you're really good at ballet they shouldn't care about your size but it sure wouldn't look right a "chubby" person leaping in the air so you can start worrying about those things when get in junior ballet right now just be happyWww@QuestionHome@Com

It sounds like you are on the right path!. Drink lots of water and continue eating healthy foods!. You can eat unhealthy foods here and there, but you have to make sure that you balance it out with the healthy foods!. I try to limit myself to eating one fattening food a day!.

Just for some other advice, you could build up your stamina by running! This will help you to not get as tired when you are dancing!.

Good luck and hope this helps!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

You're pretty much on the right track!. If you have time to jog do that too!. jogging promotes leanness in one's body!.
Work on your flexibility and awareness of where your toes are underneath you when you are in certain positions!. When I started, doing this helped me tremendously with my balance!. Good luck!

Oh yeah and try to watch your posture in your every day movements!. It helps you not to think about it so much when you danceWww@QuestionHome@Com

I did ballet when I was 7 and 8, but I'm also starting up again in September! You're on the right track!
