The best way is to practice with the bridge!. Coming back up is really what will help with your balance and your back muscles!. They helped me with my belly dancing classes!. Don't try to go down until you've managed coming up smoothly cos you may either lose balance and hurt yourself or strain a muscles near your spine which will be (believe me) VERY VERY painful and will keep you from dancing for up to a month!Www@QuestionHome@Com

When almost doing a backbend, or leaning backwards you should use your core muscles or your abs and stomach muscles rather than relying on your back!. You could hurt your back if you hold all of your weight there!. You should tense up your core and abs!. Strengthen them by doing exercises that target them, such as crunches, the bicycle, side crunches, a V-sit, etc!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

everyone else is right!. you should strengthen your back (backbends are a good way to do so) but you should also (when doing this) lift lift lift UP, then go back!. and keep lifting your pelvis and tummy as you go back and also as you come back up!. it is easier that way and looks better!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
