Question: Belly Dance Question! Please answer!.!.!.Thank You!!!!?
Hello, i am Acey and I just started belly dancing yesterday!. I do not have a car, and i only have one instructional DVD- but its one of those "Made for fun" versions- do you know what I mean!? its basically a watered down instructional BASED on TRUE belly dancing, and I DO NOT want that- I want to learn the real belly dance technique- not the kind of video made for the general "occasional watch" public, do you know what I mean!? I really want a belly dance instructional video that is as true to the real form of belly dancing as I can get- any of the types as well- since I know there are many- All I know for sure is that if I am going to learn this, then I want to learn it the right way!. So, do you have any suggestions for me as to what video I should look into getting so I can learn!?!? And Like I said, I will consider any genuine type/form of belly dance, So please, give me some suggestions and maybe a description or opinion as well!. I want to be serious with this!.

The best way to learn movements is usually in a live class!. You could start by checking with a gym or recreation center in your area!. Sometimes they have dance classes, and those teachers may also do private lessons!. You could supplement classes with videos later!.

You can look on Shira's website!.

You can e-mail or call some of the dance instructors to find out what ages they teach in their classes, more about their background, their style of instruction, what they expect from students, and fees they charge for classes!. If you don't find a
teacher listed for your area, you might want to contact one from the websites and find out if they may know of an instructor who may live closer to you!. You might want to see if you can contact other students of theirs to get their opinions of the classes!. A good teacher should encourage this!.

If you really prefer to use videos, you can read reviews on Shira's website!.

I have found belly dance DVD's at my public library!. I can check them out before I spend my money to purchase them!. That way I know if I'm getting what I expect from the DVD!.
