Am I able to take Ballet?

Question: Am I able to take Ballet!?

I want to take Beginning Ballet next year as a sophmore in college because I have always been fascinated by ballet dancers!.!.!.and just dancers in general!. However, I am concerned if I can take ballet because my second toe is slightly longer than my first toe!. From my understanding, I think that ballet dancers stand on their big toe!.!.!.so should I not take ballet!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Taking ballet classes would be perfectly ok! When in ballet, you stand on the balls of your feet ( the part under your fingers) So your big toe does not do any work!.

- Unless you are interested point, which is when you actually stand on the tips of your toes while you dance, you wont experience any problems!. If you are interested in point though you have to know that you wont join that class just like that!. First you will have to do normal ballet for a couple years (around 3 or more) So go for it ! I'm positive you'll have no preblemos =] Besides your toe is only a bit bigger than the other!

anyone can take ballet! I'm guessing you haven't done much training yet since you are going to be in beginning, but most ballet dancers don't start pointe (the style of dance where the dancers stand on the tips of their toes) until they have taken many introductory courses!. Even if you are beginning with pointe, it should not be a big problem about the length of your toes!. They often sell custom made blocks to put in the shoes for people with toes of varying lengths!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

FIRST OF ALL, for those that answered this thinking they know everything!.!.!.for pointe, you dont stand on your AT ALL!. you are suspended by the shoe!. so you're fine!. also, plenty of dancers have the same thing you do!. second, you cant start pointe right away and in ballet, you stand on the balls of your feet!. everything changes on pointe so you might want to take ballet for a while!. then a pre-pointe class to prepare you for that change!. you should totally start dancing!. you will enjoy it!. =]Www@QuestionHome@Com

You should!. It should not affect the performance since standing on your toes is a stamina / endurance for advanced ballet classes!. Expect to stand on the base pads that are on the front of you feet like when you jump rope!. Voice your concerns to the instructor, and they will put your mind to ease!.

yes u should def take it!!! it doesn't matter if ur 2nd toe is longer or w/e because ballet dancers are ot supposed to stand w/ equal weight between all toes! so it wouldn't matter!!! ballet is an amazing art and a great way to connect w/ music, other dancers, and ur body! its also great excercise!!!! have fun!!! and dont let anything stop u!Www@QuestionHome@Com

the big toe has nothing to do with when on 'pointe shoes'

You can definitely still take ballet!.

In pointe, you wear certain shoes that make it easier!. You won't have to do that your first year though!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

you wont be on be anywhere near point shoes in beginning ballet but that doesn't matter atall:) and if it does then your teacher is like a million years old!. no ones perfect:)Www@QuestionHome@Com
