if you are just starting i would suggest chacotts!.They have a fairly soft shank and are easy to break in for feet that are new to pointe!. Do not order them online if this is your first time, you need to go to the store!. The person there will fit your foot and be able to give you the pointe shoe that is best for you!. Pointe shoes are always about two sizes smaller than your street shoe size!. they are supposed to feel tight fitting but not so much that your toe curls under!. It is also important to try them on with the type of padding you will be using!. I would suggest lambs wool as this is the best padding for beginners!. I now use gel pads but i used lambs wool for a year!. When it comes to the shank, depending on the strength of your feet you should get a soft or a medium shank!. Do not get a hard shank if it is going to be your first time on pointe!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

'Princess' style pointe shoe is really great for beginners!. When you go to get your feet fitted for pointe shoes, you could ask about that style and see if it would be right for your feet!. As for the size being larger or smaller it will all depend on the style of shoe you get, but it will probably be around the same size as your street shoes!. However depending what country the shoes come from they might have sizes like 39 instead of 9!. Good luck at your first pointe shoe fitting!! It's fun :) Hopefully your shoe fitter can find one that suits your feet!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

This is something you need to go into a dance store and ask about!. I would ask your teacher what brand they like at the studio, then go in to the store, have them fit you, try on a few different brands, and choose what feels best!. A lot of studios have a specific brand that they like to use and every brand fits a little differently!. If this is your first pair I absolutely would not mail order them!. Once you get them you should check with your teacher again!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
