Question: Dance Songs/ Choreography ideas for Solo!?
Hi!. I really need a good song for my solo!. I'm 17 years old and I was thinking of doing a Lyrical Contemporary, but I need a good song for it!.
I was originally thinking about "Black Roses Red" by Alana Grace or "Wait For You" by Elliot Yamin!.
Could anyone give me other suggestions!?
also, any suggestions about choreography, I'm kinda stuck at the moment for inspiration!. I have long arms and legs so I was thinking of long lines and movements that show off limbs!. BTW: I’m trained in ballet, contemporary and jazz!. Any ideas would be welcomed!

Wow, congratulations on doing a solo, I haven't even done that yet! As for a song, I'd try 'Eleanor Rigby' by the Beatles, it's really something that can get you in the mood, and if you wan't some choreography ideas, why dont you go onto www!.youtube!.com, and type in 'Showstoppers Dance Competition'!. Some of my favorite, is 'Drown' and some other ones, and their really good in drown, and it's also lyrical!. You could get some ideas from that, and just work, like, really, really, really, hard, and everything should come out perfectly!. Umm, if you would like some outfit ideas, why don't you try, dancing!.com (!?!?!? I'm not sure if thats the name, but just type in 'lyrical outfits' in Google, or even Yahoo!?!?, ha, lol, but it's a try!. Hmm, lyrical!? Long arms and legs!.!.!.!. you'll need something expansive!.(Kristine puts on her DJ hat and digs through her collection) Songs that come to mind are:
The dream within - Lara Fabian (Final fantasy soundtrack)
Goa - (The Bourne Ultimatum soundtrack)
Marvin & Miles - Gare du Nord
Nara - E!.S!. Posthumus (Theme to Cold Case)
Now the issue is what you want to convey!. If you want soft and elongated I would go for The Dream within!.
But if *I* were the choreographer I would go for Nara!. There's an undercurrent of power in this track that, as a dancer, I love working with!. And while this is what the theme to the tv show Cold Case is based on - it will take you a while before it gets noticeable!.
Marvin & Miles is great staccato blues piece!. Goa has a few theme transitions so it may be a bit uneven!.
