of course you are not too oldl! : ) many advanced dancers have worked hard and started at age 11 and have made it very far! you can surely do ballet and get to pointe maybe by age 13 or 14!! ( if your ankles are strong enough!.) i think you should definetly do ballet it is a wonderful art form and you will enjoy it very much!. ballet is the base for other dance formslike jazz and modern!. so you CAN do ballet at age 11!! GOOD LUCK!! :-DWww@QuestionHome@Com

It is never too late to learn ballet!.!.!.!.
At age 11 is is never too late to learn the art of ballet!.

As for others that says you should take hip-hop instead of
ballet!.!.!.Well, unfortunately hip-hop is TOO MUCH associated with
the "street gang culture"!.
Hip-hop is loosing it's appeal!. That why there has not been either a
hip-hop or rap song making it in the to 25 in record
sales in the last 5 years!.
Plus, most of this music uses profanities and obscene language in
the music, which is why all radio stations won't play
this excuse for music!.

you can definitely take ballet!. i would suggest taking it at a studio that isnt really strict!. the RAD (royal academy of dance) schools are usually very strict so i wouldnt suggest one of them!. these kind of studios can be hard if you dont start at a young age!. you can definitely still start ballet and regardless of what other people say it is really fun!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

noo even though i have danced for my whole life many people didnt start taking ballet when they were little!. you can start taking it!. just whenever your in ballet class just know the other girls may have had years of expierience so just work really hard and you'll catch up quick!. ballet is funn you should definately take it up!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's definitely not to late!. I know a few people that have started later then that and have turned out to be amazing dancers one girl I know started out at age 10 and got excepted into a major ballet company!. So it is certainly not to late to start!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

no! it isn't too late!. even if you are considering it as a career!. Most dancers in companies didn't start until they were 8 or 9!.!.!.and age 10 or 11 isn't uncommon either!. If you ARE interested in a serious career as a dancer!.!.!.i would recommend taking numerous classes per week (the dance industries are VERY tough) but most importantly!.!.have fun!! and dance your heart out!! :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

no i dnt think it is that late, but start really soon!!
whateva dance studio u go to, make sure u get into a group that is of people ur own age!!
if it is a good dance studio they will let u go to other classes to improve ur technique!!

have funWww@QuestionHome@Com

no way!
i've been dancing for quite some time now,
but there are always new kids who come in and have never danced before!. you should be fine!.
you might want to ask for extra classes, to help you catch up with your classmates who have been dancing for a longer time, though!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have danced for a long time and I hate ballet!!!
BUT ballet is the center of all dance and i find it really helps so even though it might be paintful or boring
BALLET IS THE CENTER OF ALL DANCE and it really helps in all other areas of danceWww@QuestionHome@Com

Its never too late to start ballet!. Its less likely that you'd ever become professional, but that doesnt mean you cant be really good!. I knew a girl that started at age 9 and was amazing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Its not to late!. You will have to work really hard but you might have the natural talent to help you along!.
Plus if it is just something your doing just for fun it doesn't matter!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

NOPE! It's not too late! Try it and you'll LOVE it! I'm 11,too!.I take ballet and I LOVE it! I started around 8 and I'm en pointe now,but it's not too late! TRY!Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, its not too late at all to take Ballet :) There are women in their 60's who are taking up ballet and older!. If they can do it so can you!Www@QuestionHome@Com

if you want to go pro, then you have to be really talented!.
if just for fun, no you're not too old!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

you should take hip hop like me!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, it's not too late!. Are you flexible!? You already said you have the right body type, which would make me assume you're skinny!. This could be a good thing, but you're not anorexic, or anything, right!? Being flexible going into your first ballet class will help you enormously!. The only thing is that you can't be too tall!. I think about 5'8" for a girl is the absolute maximum for any pas de deux!. You can't be taller than the guy you're dancing with! Go to a good dance studio and take a teen/adult beginning ballet class!. If it's a good studio, they should offer it!. It should be a dance studio that offers jazz, modern, hip hop, tap, and a bunch of other stuff as well as ballet so you know that they accommodate late beginners as well!. Be prepared to work your a** off, in a good way, and get a teacher that will make you do your best but not over- or under-estimate your ability!. One girl at the Severance Academy here had been dancing for only two years before getting accepted into American Ballet Academy and is now dancing with the American Ballet Theater!. This is the most famous ballet school in the country, and many people who have been dancing their whole lives don't get accepted into it!. I have been accepted into the Academy's summer program for next summer, and the Joffrey Ballet one for this summer!. Do some releves and eleves ever single day to make your ankles stronger and develop strong calf muscles!. If this is what you really want, do these exercises twice a day, take two classes a week, and watch yourself advance up through the levels of dance!. Eleve: Put your feet together facing front, legs together and everything!. Rise up onto your tip toes!. Come down!. Repeat until you can't repeat any more!. Releve: Do an eleve, but right before rising up, bend your knees!. Rise up!. Come down into that bent-knees position!. This exercise should be done in first position!. First position: Start with feet/legs touching each other, feet pointing front!. Rotate legs out from the hips (do NOT do this from your knees) so that your feet make a huge pie shape!. You should rotate out as far as your hips will let you!. A fantastic website for you to check out to learn some simple ballet steps and positions before even entering your first class is http://www!.expertvillage!.com/video-serie!.!.!.
All of the videos are functional straight from the website!. Something that will help you the most in the long run is to try various teachers, don't just stick with one, and always listen to the teacher!. They could be teaching a combination but you won't learn it unless you LISTEN!. I met my best friend in a ballet class, many lasting friendships are created in dance classes because once you start, it's foolish to stop!. Ever!. Once you reach Level 3 or Level 2A depending on what your studio goes by!. If the studio includes the letters, go for the 2A, if not, go for the 3!. I started Pointe in my studio's Level 2 and my ankles have never forgiven me!. I was only 9 and my feet and ankle bones weren't near done developing!. Push yourself to where you're exhausted, but not so much that you injure yourself!. also, if you're going to be on your period, take an Advil right before the class (or whatever pain medication you use, definitely with water to help it dissolve faster) and just do what you can!. Tell the teacher beforehand!. They'll understand, trush me!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
