Position:Home>Dancing> Is it too late for me to try ballet again? What about pointe?

Question: Is it too late for me to try ballet again!? What about pointe!?
I danced ballet from the time I was 5 to the time I was about 10!. If I had danced for another year, I would have been able to go onto pointe!. But I was very busy at the time and I couldn't make the time commitment that my studio required of a pre-pointe student so I quit ballet and started dancing hip-hop and jazz which I've been doing ever since!. It's been about 6 years since I stopped dancing ballet!. I'm 16 now and would love to go back to ballet and dance on pointe!. Is it to late for me!? How long do you think it would take to work back up to the level I was at when I was younger!? Do you think I would be in a class full of 11 year olds!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't think it is too late!. At my school we had someone start at 30!. Although my studio is very relaxed!.
You will still be fit and co ordinated so it should not be too hard to get back to the level you were!. Talk to your teachers about it as they will be a ble to give you adivice about classes and stuffWww@QuestionHome@Com

there are probably not a lot of ballerinas starting at 16!. the beginner level at least for my dance school is about 7-10!. you should take up ballet, but it is probably too late for pointe!.

good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I recommend taking a class of ballet and see if its really the direction you want to go first!. I'm sure your studio will let you do that!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i think it will take a while to get back to the level u were before! check with your teacher
hope this helps xxxWww@QuestionHome@Com

It's never to late!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I doubt they would put you in a class for 11 year olds!. I'm guessing that your studio will make you take normal ballet classes and see where you currently are at!. Then they can determine what class you should be in and if you can do pointe!. I think it would be minimum of a year to get you back to where you were with lots of hard work!. Because you have continued your dance training it will probably be easier than what you think!.

I hope this helps :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

usually, there are many teen/adult classes, unless you do RAD!. You must have some memory of your technique and positions, so it would not take as long as it would for someone else!. You also do jazz, so you have coordination!.

If you want to get serious, you might need to drop some hiphop/jazz classes, since your studio is strict!. My studio requires me to take 5/6 classes a week for pointe!. If you build up your strength/technique, you will be able to do pointe again!.

Unfortunately, you probably will never make it to professional, as many pros are apprentices in companies at your age!. But, who needs to be a pro!?
If you love what you are doing, that's all that matters!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
