Question: Modern Dancing Tips!?
I am in a ballet company, but we have a bad stage and it all is very low-budget!. I decided I was going to audition for this company that doesn't do ballet, but more jazz, modern, funk, and hip hop stuff!. I can do hip hop, funk, and jazz really well, but I have never taken a modern class in my life!. I need to know some easy, basic modern moves and stretches that would make me improve slightly!. I have just had my first modern class today!.!.!.!.!. My ballet teacher decided to teach modern today!. To answer your question a little I would say to watch some of these videos and then to search some more moves on Google!. The videos are below!. Across the floor walks are IMPORTANT!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't think you can learn Modern with just knowing what the exercises are as a Modern dancer will learn by knowing what the exercises are!. If you are strong enough dancer, the company will see that you can probably learn Modern easily!. It took Baryshnikov a time to really do Modern and Post Modern really well, lets put it that way!. Ballet you are always holding up thus, almost all Ballet dancers are afraid of falling!. Modern dancers don't mind falling (dance movements of course)!. Watch videos/dvds of Modern Dancers and Post Modern (Twyla Tharp - you'll love it)!. Martha Graham is the epitome of Modern Dance, but as the Graham dancers would say, there is no beginner Graham Modern Dance - seen a lot of bad Graham techniques done by dancers who think they are doing Graham!. Watch the Alvin Ailey Dance Troupe on DVDs or VHS, they do a real good clean Graham technique!.

The technique of Martha Graham is the technique of contraction and release!.
Isadora Duncan is the technique of fall and recovery!.
Those are just the two main techniques of Modern dance, and there are a lot more, followed by Post-Modern!.

Just show a clean technique, and tell them you want to learn Modern!. BAL!Www@QuestionHome@Com
