okay!. you are a ballerina and you are pretty tallish!. i am too!. we have muscle which makes you weigh more!. there can be a chubby person who weighs 123 and there can be a person who is very in shape who weighs 123!.
i weigh 112 and my friend does also!. she is bigger than me but i was smaller because i do dance! i was talking to my dance friends the other day about how i always feel like i am the biggest one there and they're like nooo way! every single one of them said that they felt like THEY were the ones with the huge legs or big hips or fat stomach!. i seriously think that it is the mirror in the dance studios or just the competition to be the tiniest dancer there!.
you are not overweight as a dancer although no matter what someone tells you or no matter what you tell yourself, you will alwaysss feel overweight when you are a ballerina!. its just the way a ballerina is portrayed!. i think the same way!. be confident about yourself and don't go on some crazy diet to be the "perfect ballerina"!. you are fine just the way you are and if you progress as a dancer, don't let any company tell you differently :]Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hi, good question!.?

Although the average weight for your height is 110-130, it is definitely different for ballerinas!. However, if you don't really want to become a professional dancer, it doesn't really matter how large you are because 1) you'll probably lose a lot of it anyway, and 2) regular, local classes shouldn't and don't usually have standards about measurements and weight!.

However, when being a professional, there are strict standards about weight, diet, height, etc!. The ideal weight for a female ballerina from 5 ft!. 2 inches to 5 ft!. 8 inches is 85-115 lbs!. Most professional dance companies would jump at the chance to get this ideal weight, but they certainly accept girls your weight!. You are just perfect!.

Remember, the weights I gave you is if you want to become a professional, as in have ballet be your job!. Not many dancers become professionals!.

Good luck and hope I helped!.?Www@QuestionHome@Com

You are not overweight!. But I won't lie to you, based on what you have said, and haven't a chance to see you physically, you will most likely be in a reducing program if you are dancing for company like ABT!. Don't get me wrong, now a days, they helped dancers to achieved the "standard size" without sacrificing their health!. If they are found to be anorexic or bulimic, they are required to get some help for it!. That is if you are in such professional company!.
Now, dance supposed to bring you joy and fulfillment, rather than just being like the other people physically!. I have classmates/friends who are over the physical features (mostly muscle, and there are some just overweight), but they all enjoy what they are doing and who and what they are!. As long as it's not hurting your health, and you can show the joy of it, what does it matters if you're too skinny or fat!.
You want to weigh less, do it because it's who you are, and not just to be like the others!. You want to lose those extra pounds, then watch your diet (eat properly), work harder on lengthening your muscle!. If I'm to pick dancers, I would pick on their abilities!. Work on your technique properly, and you will be way ahead to those who don't work properly!.
If you no longer find joy, then take a brake and assets your dream!. Dance to live, live to dance!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

HECK NO!!!!! Honey, that's not fat, that's muscle, which weighs more than fat!. Dancers tend to be more muscular people, especially if you train in multiple disciplines(jazz and hip-hop type stuff especially, it gives you more cardio workouts)!. Actually, 123 is really pretty good!. I would really not worry about it!. You are right in the normal weight class for your height, and I'm sure you're in really great shape and healthy!. That's what is important!. As long as you are properly nourishing your body for the workout that you are doing(dancing), you're totally fine!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There are no absolutes in ballet regarding size and weight!. This is a fact!. Take a look at any ballet company and at some of the most impressive dancers over the past century!. You will see so many examples of dancers who were too small, too to tall, started too late, couldn't jump high enough, jumped to much, etc!. If you want to dance ballet, then keep dancing!. Drive and determination are more important than your shape and size!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
