It is HELPFUL in jazz to have a good level of flexibility!. However, it is NOT a requirement!. also, as you continue with you jazz classes, your flexibility will improve!. And hey, you can do the splits, so thats a great start!

Handstands and cartwheels do not have much to do with flexibility!. And I have never seen a jazz syllabus that actually requires these!. If you ARE required to do them, you will most likely be taught!. If not, you COULD join your studios acro class if they have one!.

You will improve as time goes by, and learn to do more and more things!. I teach grade 3 jazz, (syllabus work)do here are some steps in the syllabus I teach though each syllabus is different!.
BARRE
-Pushes at the barre
-full plie and ripple
-demi plies and stretch
kicks and leg holds

FLOOR
-jazz split and roll
-leg lifts from the floor
-leg stretch in second position

CENTRE
--isolations
-single pirrouette
-windmill turns
-springs

STEPS
-jete and kick
-circular kick and step hop
-pivot turns
-funk combo

jazz is more than just flexibility!. if u think it isthan shame on u! jazz is connecting with the music !. it's not just 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 no!!! u HAVE to feel it or u'll look like a robot!. yeah sure!. flexibility is a bonus, but if u feel the music then ur better than thoset that are more flexable than u are and dont feel it!.

BTW: don't complain when ur knees rub against the floor, ur dance sensae will hate u for it!.

THEY WILL HURT, u'll get used to it

noe, the arm stuffs: u dont really need to do all that stuff!. unless ur choreoghrapher is having a block and she/he will tell u to do it!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

flexibility is helpful but strength is just as- if not- more important!Www@QuestionHome@Com
